Kaanapali Maui Boat Trip Reviews

Wake Maui Reviews

We were so happy to find a wake boarding boat on Kaanapali Beach! Captain Ryan was very personable and really put me at ease! My kids got up in no time and they even convinced me to try ‘Wake Surfing’. Having the boat all to ourselves was the best and got to snorkel with so many turtles! We had so much fun and so many laughs! Thanks Wake Maui, we’ll be back.

Wake Maui No Ka Oi

I’ve spent a lot of time in Hawaii and this is one of the best things you can do with your time there. Captain Ryan is experienced, attentive, safe and a roll model for just about anyone. If you are planning a trip of any kind this is the way to go!!! I recommend it to all my friends visiting Maui.

We have been to Maui a few times and thought we had done it all. Our first trip to Maui, we did the typical touristy tours such as snorkelling at Molokini with a large catamaran. It was okay, but of course crowded, impersonal, and inflexible. Since then we have steered clear of theses types of activities. It was so refreshing to have found Ryan and Wake Maui because we still love being out at sea on a boat but the private charter allowed us the freedom to wakeboard, wake surf, snorkel, and just cruise and enjoy a few hours of fun and relaxation. Ryan was super accommodating and made sure we got a new and different experience. Even the snorkel spot he picked for us was unique (a collapsed pier that has since turned into an artificial reef with lots of sea life to see). Ryan, as you can imagine, grew up wake boarding and wake surfing so he is also a great teacher if you are new to the sport. His tips and guidance helped us improve our skills too! Overall, a great way to spend a few hours in Maui.

We first found Captain Ryan through trip advisor two years ago in 2010 when we went to Kaanapali. This time we decided to stay in the Wailea area and because we had so much fun last time we called Ryan and he happily met us in Lahaina harbor so we didn’t have to drive all the way to Kaanapali. The drive from Wailea to Lahaina is well worth it maybe 35 minutes at the most. If you book a morning charter with Wake Maui you can be done in time to hit up Aloha mixed plate for lunch just down the street. Anyway, we started out the day with a tour up the Kaanapali coast to the north shore…none of us had seen that area up by the Ritz-Carlton before and they had a good snorkeling spot there. We did some wake-surfing for a while, some snorkeling, and finally some tubing! Yep, he recently acquired a tube and wow was that fun to hold onto. There are so many large, impersonal boat tours out there…if you want a more personal and customizable experience Wake Maui is for you. He will even take you whale-watching when they are in season. He has snorkel gear for you to use but you are welcome to bring your own as well. Enjoy!
